Teen Help Lines
There are a lot of different places for people to get help when they are feeling depressed or like they are going to hurt themselves. A "helpline" is a service that is provided by different organizations, and basically has people who are available 24/7 to talk to people who need help. Click HERE to visit a website with a lot of resources. Remember, do NOT give out your name or address online or through text to anyone that you do not know, BUT sometimes it can help to talk to someone virtually who is trained to deal with tough stuff if you can't find the words to talk in person.
Some resources that may be helpful include:
1. Crisis Text Line - If you are in a crisis and need to text someone, the Crisis Text Line has volunteer counselors that are willing to help. You can text "start" to the number 741-741 to get connected with a Crisis Text Line volunteer. When you are done with the conversation, text the word "stop" and it will disconnect you from the helpline.
2. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline - Call 1-800-273-8255 to talk to someone about what you are feeling.
3. Lifeline Crisis Chat - Click HERE to go to a site to chat online with the crisis center of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
4. Loveisrespect.org - This is a great website with information and a place to live chat with a person about issues you may be having.
